Eleanor Strawbridge

Obituary of Eleanor Irene Strawbridge

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Eleanor Irene Lucas Strawbridge of Titusville on Monday, December 18, 2017.

Eleanor was born on December 31, 1922 at Dunkirk, NY, a daughter of the late Peter and Victoria Bartkowski Lucas.

She was married to Lester B. Strawbridge on May 2, 1942 at St. Walburga Church, sharing 75 years together.

Eleanor was a crossing guard for 13 years at St. Titus School.

She will be remembered for her love of cooking and baking for family and friends.  She also put those talents to good use for many years by helping out in the kitchen at the former Christian Activities Center.

Her love of sweets was the key to her longevity and spunkiness.

Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Paulette “Polly” Studnicki of Titusville and Kathy Borges and husband Dave of Clymer, NY; sons, Lester B. “Sonny” Strawbridge, Jr. and wife Lori of Prospect and Dennis Strawbridge of Titusville.  She was a much loved and admired grandma to Pam, Amy, David, Matt, and Suzanne; and proud great grandma to her nine great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Nick Studnicki; and her sisters, Mary Ann Guzowski, Alice Martinek, and Dolores Serafin.

No public calling hours will be observed.

Private interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery.
