Obituary of A. Richard Murray

               Mr. A. Richard “Dick” Murray, 90, of Wesbury of Meadville, formerly of Centerville, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.

               He was born in Titusville on November 29, 1927, to the late Arthur R. and Margaret E. Marsh Murray. He married Mary Bauer on April 8, 1950 in Tryonville.

               Dick was a graduate of Pleasantville High School, class of 1944.

               He was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy.  He entered the Navy on April 2, 1945 at Pittsburgh.  He served as Pharmacist’s mate 3rd Class, until his honorable discharge on November 8, 1946 at Bainbridge, MD. 

                              Dick was previously employed at Struthers Wells, Cyclops Specialty Steel, and General Electric.  He retired on January 5, 1990 after twenty-five years at the PA State Employment Office as the employer relations representative.

               He was a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church.

               Dick enjoyed bowling, woodworking, oil painting, golfing in the Elder Statesmen golf league, and many activities at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community. He always had time for everyone he met and had a joke to tell.

               Dick is survived by his wife Mary of Meadville; four children, Robert A. Murray and wife Elaine of Elizabethtown, PA, Richard P. Murray and wife Betty of North Warren, Thomas L, Murray and wife Lori of Stockbridge, GA, and James A. Murray and wife Monica of Menifee, CA; seven grandchildren, Kevin Murray and wife Kylie of Mt. Joy, PA, Kelly Daily and husband Rob of Spring Grove, PA, Brian Murray of St. Marys, Jason Murray and wife Cheryl of Guys Mills, Stephanie Lott and husband David of Stockbridge, GA, Kristen Harris and husband Todd of McDonough, GA, and Matthew Murray and wife Alexis of Menifee, CA; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Stockwell of Youngstown, OH, and Betty Eldred and husband Carl of Centerville; and three brothers, William A. Murray of Wintergarden, FL, John L. Murray of Columbus, GA, and Edward Murray and wife Kay of Richardson, TX.

               He was preceded in death by four sisters, Janice Weilacher, Mildred Irvine, Dora Mae Peeling, and Patricia Murray; and a brother, Harold Murray.

               Friends and family may call at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, 31 Park Ave, Meadville, PA 16335, in the Barco Chapel on Thursday January 11, 2017 from Noon to 2 PM with the funeral service to follow with Rev. Samuel Marchetta, officiating.

               Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Centerville.
