Obituary of Donald L. Walters
Mr. Donald L. Walters, 82, of Endeavor, PA, died Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Titusville.
Mr. Walters was born on June 13, 1927 at Endeavor, PA, a son of the late Earl and Bertha Barnes Walters. He was married to Jennie Marie Miller on June 17, 1950 in Tidioute. She preceded him in death on April 25, 2000.
Mr. Walters was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army from 1945 to 1946. He was stationed in Germany during the war. Upon discharge from the Army, he returned to the Hickory Township School and graduated in 1947.
Mr. Walters had been employed at GTE Sylvania in East Titusville for 30 years where he served as union president for many years. He had also been employed at the Endeavor Lumber Company. Mr. Walters also aided in the modernization and maintenance of the Upper Endeavor Water System.
Mr. Walters was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the local VFW.
Mr. Walters is survived by a daughter, JoAnn Hughes and her husband Jeff of Columbia City, OR; two sons, Richard Walters and wife Barbara and their daughter Alyssa Walters, all of Nags Head, NC, and Gary Walters of Dalmatia, PA; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lynn Irene Walters; a son, Charles Walters; and two sisters, Phyllis Russ and Geraldine Littlefield.
No public calling hours will be observed. Friends may attend a memorial service at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 5, 2010.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Tionesta Library or to the charity of one’s choice.
