Obituary of Celia B. Kolacek

            Mrs. Celia DeVault Shreffler Kolacek, 86, of Diamond, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 07, 2018, at the Titusville Area Hospital.

            She was born on June 24, 1931, in Morgantown, WV to the late Rev. Harry V. and Doris E. Webber DeVault.

            Celia was a graduate of Cranberry High School, class of 1948, and of Transfer Bible Institute at Transfer, PA.

            She was married to James E. Shreffler in June of 1950, he preceded her in death.  She was then married to William H. Kolacek on August 20, 1988 at Diamond United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death on June 11, 2011.

            She worked at Polk Center during her younger year; she worked with visiting nurses, helping with shut-ins in her middle years; and in her later years she was a health care aid for the elderly.  She loved everyone that she met.

            Celia was a member of the Diamond Evangelical United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and served as head of the United Methodist Church Women’s Mission, as well as, the Diamond Community Homemakers. Music was what she loved the most, singing in the choir and playing the piano.  She was a former choir director at Calvary Baptist Church in Franklin and in President and with the Ladies Mission Group.  She helped with dinners, bible school, and many other church activities. 

            She enjoyed making crafts and crocheting for family, friends, and shut-ins.

            Celia is survived by a daughter, Celia M. Baker and husband Rex of Titusville; four sons, Rev. Larry D. Shreffler and wife Doris of Sandy Lake, Rev. J. Ed Shreffler and wife Sherry of Oil City, Daniel D. Shreffler of Oil City, and Mark E. Shreffler and wife Shani of Oil City; a step-son, Karl E. Kolacek and wife Deb of Titusville; two step-daughters, Diann Palmquist and husband Ernie of TN, and Linda Shaffer and husband Eugene of Titusville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers,  James W. DeVault of LA, and Joseph W. DeVault of Carlton; two sisters, Mary Rebecca Buckley of TN, and Shirley Ann Beaussire of Highland Haven, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

            She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Preston Smock; and three brothers, Harry L. DeVault, Raymond B. DeVault, and David L. DeVault.

            Friends and family may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA 16354 on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Further visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Diamond Evangelical United Methodist Church with the service to follow conducted by Rev. Terry Brown pastor of the New Ireland and Lake Pleasant United Methodist Churches.

            Interment will be in Dempseytown Lutheran Cemetery.
