Obituary of Robert J. Baker

Robert J. Baker, Sr., formerly of Titusville, passed away February 8, 2018 at the Oil City Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center where he had been a resident since 2013.

            Robert was born on July 6, 1932 at Plumer, PA, a son of the late Ferris and Burdetta Irwin Baker.  He was married to Jane Littlefield on Jan. 30, 1954 at Pleasantville.

            Robert was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  He entered the service on July 28, 1949 at Erie, PA and was honorably discharged at Ft. Eustis, VA on Sept. 15, 1952 with the rank of corporal.

            He had been employed as a truck driver for Klapec Trucking in Oil City for 48 years until his retirement.

            Robert was a former member of the Odd Fellows.  He enjoyed watching baseball and restoring cars.  He loved spending time with his Labrador Retrievers.

            He is survived by his wife of Oil City; two sons, Barry C. Baker and wife Brenda of Jeffersonville, IN and Scott S. Baker of Titusville; a daughter, Deborah Ziobert and husband Tom of Lake Jackson, Texas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, David Baker of Titusville; two sisters, Phyllis Dunn and Sarah Chappel, both of Titusville; and several nieces and nephews.

            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert J. Baker, Jr.; two brothers, Bruce and Raymond Baker; and two sisters, Marjorie Flick and Charlene Baker.

            No calling hours will be observed.

            The family asks that memorials be made to the Crawford County Humane Society 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd. Meadville, PA 16335 or to Hospice of Crawford County 406 W. Oak St. Titusville, PA 16354.
