Obituary of Florence I Richards

Florence Irene Proper Richards, 86, formerly of Titusville, died peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2018 in West Valley, NY.

               Mrs. Richards was born on  June 22, 1931 in Southwest Township, Warren County, PA, to the late Edward Proper and Rozetta (Ongley) Proper (Maynard).  

               She married Donald Richards on October 18, 1948 in Reno, Nevada. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1980.

               Mrs. Richards was a homemaker who enjoyed growing flowers, doing word puzzles, taking care of her grandchildren, and watching TV. She loved her family and living in her little house.

               Mrs. Richards is survived by three sons; Harley, Renny, and Jerry, all of PA; two daughters, Marcella Stockin of NY, and Mary Lou Baugh of HI; fifteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

               Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, three brothers (Edward, Donald, and Claude Proper); two sisters, Effie Rebecca “Peg” (Proper) Yochum and Betty Jane (Proper) (Rumzie) (Sutton) Kelly; two daughters, Marilyn Richards and Myrtle Richards (Tolbert) Hassell; a son, Rickey; and a grandson Rex Allen Richards.

               Friends and family may attend calling hours on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 9 to 11 AM, at which time the funeral service will be held at the Hennes-Garrett Funeral Home, 203 E. Main Street, Titusville, PA 16354.

               Interment will be in the Jerusalem Corners Cemetery in Pleasantville, PA.

               In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Pleasantville Volunteer Fire Department (PO Box 45, 157 West State Street, Pleasantville, PA 16341).
