Obituary of Ruth P Wescoat

            Ruth P. Wescoat, 90, formerly of Titusville, passed away Tuesday afternoon February 20, 2018 at The Caring Place in Franklin.

            Ruth was born on March 28, 1927 in Titusville, a daughter of the late Robert and Charlotte Kerr Peterson.  She was married to Theodore W. “Ted” Wescoat on Aug. 4, 1945 in Titusville.  He preceded her in death on May 30, 2000.

            Ruth was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1945.  She had been employed at the former Thompson’s Drug Store for 22 years.

            Ruth was a member of the Peer Group, and also president of the Resident’s Council while residing at The Caring Place.

            She enjoyed doing puzzles, baking, making candy, and bird watching.  She was always the host of Thanksgiving dinner at her home.

            She enjoyed crocheting and made baby blankets for all the grandchildren.  She also made lap robes for many veterans.

            Ruth is survived by the following children; Kathleen McMunn and husband Daniel of Pleasantville, John Wescoat of Livingston, MT, and Thomas Wescoat and wife Gertrude of Titusville; the following grandchildren, Daniel McMunn and wife Gretchin of Westminster, MD, Barbara Ratcliff and husband Duane of Corvallis, OR, Stacie Mangel and husband Chuck of Meadville, Kristina Hoepfl and husband Chris of Titusville, Jennifer Wescoat and fiancée Scott Mercer of Titusville, and Paula Householder and husband Eric of Meadville; 19 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; a brother, Charles A. Peterson and wife Shirley of Newton Falls, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

            In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lee Wescoat; two great great grandchildren, Eric and Kirklynn Householder; a brother, Edward Peterson; and four sisters, Clara Neely, Dorothy Beltz, Martha Jane Kunz, and Harriett Bue.

            Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville, PA today (Thursday) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and attend the funeral service there on Friday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jeremy Stouffer, chaplain of The Caring Place, officiating.

            Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Cherrytree Twp., Venango County.

            The family asks that memorials be made to the charity of one’s choice.
