Obituary of Gordon E. Atkins
Mr. Gordon E. Atkins, 84, of Pleasantville, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at UPMC Northwest.
He was born in Pleasantville on June 17, 1933 to the late Raymond and Vivian Briggs Atkins, Sr.
Gordon graduated from Pleasantville High School.
He married Audeene Lore on May 12, 1951 in Wesleyville. She preceded him in death on March 8, 2000.
Gordon worked at Cytemp Specialty Steel for over thirty years. He was the Pleasantville mail carrier for over twenty years, and also worked on logging jobs with his brother throughout his working career.
He previously attended the Pleasantville United Methodist Church.
Gordon was involved in the Pleasantville High School alumni association and the Titusville Summer Theater.
He enjoyed square dancing, playing the organ, and was a Master Gardener.
Gordon is survived by seven children, Dennis Atkins and wife Colleen of Prattville, AL, David Atkins and wife Beverly of Smithfield, VA, Kathryn Morris and husband Steven of Fayetteville, NC, Krista Mowrey and husband Douglas of Titusville, Kelly Atkins and wife Karen of Pleasantville, Jason Atkins of Baltimore, MD, and Joel Atkins of Titusville; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Raymond Jr., Robert, William, Russell, and Charles Atkins.
Friends and family may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA 16354, on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM, and the funeral service on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11 AM with Reverend Timothy Maybray officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Pleasantville.
