Obituary of Bettie Sue "Nana" Fortney
Mrs. Bettie Sue “Nana” Fortney, 89, passed away Thursday evening, March 22, 2018, at UPMC Hamot in Erie. She was a resident for the past 5 years of her life at Titusville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center where she had made many good friends while living at the home.
Mrs. Fortney was born on August 3, 1928, in Oklahoma City, OK to the late Adolph and Mabel Perry Ducat. She married Dean A. Fortney on April 8, 1948, in Titusville. Mr. Fortney preceded her in death on January 2, 2001.
Bettie was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1947.
She formerly attended the Enterprise Community Church.
Bettie enjoyed spending time with her family celebrating birthdays and holidays. She also especially loved her granddaughter Rae Ann who over the years dedicated a lot of her time to Nana.
Mrs. Fortney is survived by her daughter, Marlene “Marty” DeArment and husband Ray of Titusville; 5 granddaughters, Holly Beach and husband Chad of Titusville, Hope Gafner and husband Randy of Titusville, Rae Ann Emminger and husband Bill of Pleasantville, Amy See and husband Rick of Titusville, Carrie English and husband Tyler of Pleasantville; 9 great grandchildren, Randa McCleary and husband Shane of Cambridge Springs, Chase Matteson, Abby Matteson, Claire Emminger of Pleasantville, Ally See, Tyler See, Lilly See all of Titusville, Tyler English, Emily English both of Pleasantville; Zander Beach of Titusville; a great great-granddaughter and fifth generation, Madalyn Mae McCleary who was born on January 24, 2018; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Fortney Miller on January 18, 1981; a brother, William Duncan; and 2 sisters, Mary Smith and Jean Barrett.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA 16354 on Monday from 12:00 to 2:00 pm with the funeral service to follow conducted by Pastor Phil Taylor of the Grace Fellowship Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Pleasantville.
