Obituary of M. Dean Ford

Mr. M. Dean Ford, 92, of Carnegie, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Family Hospice and Palliative Care in Pittsburgh.

               He was born in California, PA on January 13, 1926 to the late Mr. & Mrs. Ford.

               Dean attended Allegheny High School.

               He was a veteran of the United State Marine Corp., having served during WWII.  He entered in 1944 and was honorably discharged with rank of Sargent.

               Dean married Betty Prather on August 1, 1964 at the Titusville First United Methodist Church.

               He was a mechanic in the auto industry at various Oldsmobile dealerships in the Pittsburgh area for over forty-two years.

               He was a lifetime member of the Good Sam Club, a camping club, the National Rifle Association and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. His love for farming on the family farm in Titusville brought much peace and happiness to Dean and his wife through the years; he loved to enjoy the land and tend to needs of the farm with Betty.

               Dean is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Betty Ford, of Carnegie; nieces and nephews, Ken Prather and wife Roberta of Maine, Lynn Fabian and husband KJ, Wendy Prather both of Georgia, Douglas Prather and wife Darlene of Michigan, Thomas Prather, Jr. and wife Jan, and Bonnie Prather both of Washington; and many, many “adopted” children and wonderful friends who knew Dean as Pa or Grandpa.

               Friends and family may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA 16354, on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.  The funeral service will be held there on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 11 AM with Pastor Gary Kinnear officiating.

               Interment will be in East Troy Cemetery, military rights will be observed.

               Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice, or the American Cancer Society.
