Obituary of Donna M. Sterling
Mrs. Donna M. Sterling, 73, of 12522 Main St. Hydetown, died Sunday evening March 27, 2011 at Country Acres Personal Care Home.
Mrs. Sterling was born on November 28, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Donald and Thelma Champion Lynch. She was married to Kenneth A. Sterling on July 20, 1956 at the Hydetown Baptist Parsonage. He preceded her in death on December 28, 2009.
She was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1956. She had been co-owner with her husband of Sterling Insurance Service for 55 years.
Mrs. Sterling was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and also cookie chairman. She was an avid animal lover and fed and cared for any animal that showed up in her yard. She was a member of ASPCA (American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). She was an avid cook and enjoyed baking during the holidays. She was also the host for a local TV show called “Banquets and Bouquets”. She supported many charities.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth L. Sterling and wife Celine of Titusville; two daughters, Rita Oliver and husband Dr. Richard Oliver of Titusville, and Heather Hilburn and husband John of Hydetown; four grandchildren, Amy West and husband Josh, Kenneth F. Sterling, Jessica Hilburn and Juliet Hilburn; a great granddaughter, Ava J. West; and a brother, Robert Lynch.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Charles A. Miller and a brother Edward Miller.
No public calling hours will be observed. A private memorial service will be conducted for the family.
