Obituary of Sandra H. Clark
Sometimes the angel appears in the form of a friend who says exactly the words we need to hear that day. Or you will unwillingly act as an angel to someone else, tossing off a message so casually that, though it saves a person’s life, you hardly remember the moment at all.”-Sophy Burnham
Sandra Heistand Clark, 65, of Titusville, Pennsylvania, peacefully left this Earth, to be with her loving Lord and Savior on Monday, June 4, 2018, at 1:45 a.m., at her residence. Her spirit will live on through her beloved husband of 41 years, Joseph, her daughter, Sarah Clark-Stocker, son-in-law, Patrick Stocker, granddaughter Isabel of Ashtabula, Ohio, the many members of her husband’s family, whom she regarded as her own, her dear friends and coworkers, and every single person she touched with her beautiful life. She is preceded in death by her parents Dr. Clifford and Lillian Heistand.
Sandra was born December 31, 1952 in Philadelphia, PA. At the age of seven, she moved with her parents to Titusville, PA, where she would reside the rest of her life.
She was a 1970 graduate of Titusville High School. She furthered her education with a bachelor of science degree in Nursing at Widener University, followed by a graduate degree in Nurse Anesthesia from Hamot School of Anesthesia/Edinboro University.
She practiced the art of anesthesia, as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, for over 40 years (Franklin Hospital, Oil City Hospital, and UPMC Northwest). She belonged to the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetists and American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, throughout her career. She firmly believed in the importance of education, and made many contributions to the education of others.
She was blessed with a myriad of talents and attributes, which she never took for granted. Her abilities to write, play the piano, sing, sew, garden, cook, mentor, impeccably dress, and limitlessly love, were implicitly evident in her everyday life. She had a great passion for world travel; noting the beauty in all of its splendor. She was also an equestrian enthusiast; showing and competing for many of her younger years.
She was an active member of St. Titus Church, and had such respect and appreciation for her church community. The depth of her faith was unfaltering.
May some of her many pieces of advice/anecdotes provide smiles and pleasant memories of this dear angel, who lived among us. Until we meet again...
“No matter the problem, there is nothing a little lipstick can’t fix. Write ‘thank you’ notes. Take the stairs. Dress with class, yet with interest. Plant your container gardens after Memorial Day, and make sure they fill, spill, and thrill. Feed the birds. Treat everyone with kindness and respect; even if it is difficult, and they may not be deserving. Always do what you know is right. Encourage rather than criticize. Hang your sheets out to dry, despite it being midwinter. Take the vacations of your dreams, as to enjoy them while you are young. Always make your guests feel special in your home, and greet them with a warm embrace and the best martini of their life. Sing ‘Dream a Little Dream of Me’ to your baby, as she drifts off to sleep. Know that the secret to a happy life is to always dance in the kitchen.”
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for family and friends at St. Titus Church on Wednesday, June 13th at 6:00 PM with Fr. Walter E. Packard, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children Erie, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16505.
