Obituary of John W. Gregory

John W. Gregory, 75, of Grand Valley, passed away Monday afternoon June 11, 2018 at his residence.

            John was born on January 31, 1943 at Corry, PA, a son of the late R. Wilbur and Rose Graham Gregory.  He was married to Susan Chambers on March 14, 1964 at Tidioute.

            John was a graduate of the Corry High School, class of 1962.  He had been employed at Torpedo Strip and Wire for 36 years until his retirement.  After retirement, he worked at Hovis Auto Supply for 10 years.

            John was a member of the BPO Elks No. 264 and of the Titusville Moose Club.  He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and family.  He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.

            John was always there for anyone in need.  He was very active in the community and had served as president of the Old Home Days for three years.  He was especially proud to have been a volunteer for the Make A Wish Foundation for 20 years having completed 100 wishes.

            John is survived by his wife Susan of Grand Valley; a daughter, Lisa Thompson and companion Jay Weitzel of Salamanca, NY; two grandchildren, Ty Hillard and wife Abby, and Michael Hillard and wife Aimee, all of Warren; five great grandchildren, John, Kylie, Ryan, Reed and Leia Hillard; a sister, Beth Haehn and husband Tim of Grand Valley; a half-sister, Isabelle Laurie of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.

            No public visitation will be observed per John’s request.

            Friends may attend a memorial service at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Grand Valley United Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Culp officiating.
