Obituary of Albert Daniel Lowros

Albert Daniel Lowros of 7 Meadow Lane Titusville,  passed away July 5th at home with his life partner of 18 years, Kay O’Neil.

            Al was born in Titusville on June 3, 1934, a son of the late Christina Pacet Lowros and Anthony Lowros.

            Upon graduation from Titusville High School in 1954, he entered the Marine Corps and served active combat duty in Korea from 1954 until 1957.  He served the rest of his two years in Philadelphia in the recruiting office.

            Al had to leave the Marine Corps to come home and run the family business, The Diamond Lunch, for 53 years until his illness in 2003.

            He carried his love of the Marine Corps and his country throughout his entire life.

            He was a member of the honor guard, both in the Robert L. Green Detachment and Titusville Honor Guard, until the spring of this year.  He was a life member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW and of the Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion.  He was also a member of the Purple Heart Society.

            Al served as deputy game warden with the Pennsylvania Game Commission for many years with his brother, Dr. James Lowros.

            His retirement passions were cutting the lawn, walking in the woods, and tinkering on all types of small motors.

            He was previously married to Sandra Lowros and had the following surviving children; Daniel Lowros of Titusville, Lori Polaski and husband Scott of Johnsonburg, PA, and Kristi Mowrey and husband Eric of Titusville; five grandchildren, Kayla and Ryan Fenton, Marissa Evans and husband Tanner, Kennedy Neely, and Alaina Lowros.

            He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Brenda Tarr and husband Tom of Titusville; two nieces; several nephews; and his extended family of Kay O’Neil.

            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Milton, and Dr. James Lowros; and five sisters, Gladys Zarbo, Dorothy Cervone, Bessie Lowros, Elizabeth Robertson, and infant Mary Lowros.

            Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville, PA on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and attend the funeral service there on Monday at 11:00 AM.

            Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with full military rites.

            The family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County 406 W. Oak St. Titusville, PA 16354 or to the VFW Scholarship Fund, c/o VFW 206 St. John St. Titusville, PA 16354.
