Obituary of Karen Romayne Vinopal

Karen Romayne Vinopal, 62, of Pleasantville, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

            Karen was born on July 13, 1956 at Johnstown, PA, a daughter of Emma R. Rhoades and the late Robert R. Rhoades of Titusville.

            She was married to H. Michael Vinopal on June 21, 1980 at St. Titus Church in Titusville.

            Karen attended Titusville Area Schools, graduating in 1974.  She graduated from Edinboro State College in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

            Karen taught thirty-four years at the Titusville Area School District.  Her classes included fourth grade at Hydetown Elementary School and first grade at Pleasantville Elementary School.  She retired from the district in 2012.

            Karen was a member of St. Titus Church.  She was also a member of the Williamsburg Foundation Capitol Society.

            She truly made the world a better place with her smile and outgoing nature.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, reading, decorating, and had a passion for her gardens.  She also had a love for animals, shown by her ownership of Labrador Retrievers and cats, as well as feeding birds and deer.

            Karen is survived by her husband of Pleasantville; her mother of Titusville; a daughter, Ashley E. Vinopal and husband Max Palomeque of Woodbridge, VA; a son, Michael C. Vinopal of Arlington, VA; two sisters, Ronda Schroeck and husband Bob of Erie and Robin Rhoades of Charles Town, WV; a brother, Robert Rhoades of Oviedo, FL; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stephen and Mary Vinopal of Oil City; and several nieces and nephews.

            Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM at St. Titus Church with Fr. Walter E. Packard as celebrant.

            Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery.

            The family asks that memorials be made to the Venango County Humane Society 286 S. Main St. Seneca, PA 16346 or to the charity of one’s choice.
