Obituary of Maxine Martin

Mrs. Maxine Martin, 68, of 20703 Hatchtown Rd. Spartansburg, died Saturday morning April 23, 2011 at the Corry Memorial Hospital. Maxine was born on October 19, 1942 at Hydetown, PA, a daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy Beers Goodwill. She was married to Dana H. Martin on Sept. 11, 1965 at the Hydetown Baptist Church. Maxine was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1960. She was active with her husband in operating the family dairy business. She had also worked for 12 years at the Buell’s Corners Store. Maxine was a member of the Rometown Community Church. She was also a member of the former Rome Township Ladies Aide, and served on the Rome Township Election Board for 21 years. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed her pet dog “Brownie”. Maxine is survived by her husband of Spartansburg; four children, Rhea Jones and husband Edward of Oil City, Dorothy Irwin and husband Matthew of Linesville, Ralph Martin and Sonya Martin, both of Spartansburg; two grandchildren, Rachel Wetherell and husband Bill, and Ryan Irwin; a great granddaughter, Holly Wetherell; three brothers, Harold Goodwill and wife Charlotte of Waterford, Delbert Goodwill of Titusville and Wayne Goodwill of Florida; three sisters, Rowean Hicks and husband Richard of Union City, Mary Howe and husband Ralph of Titusville, and Marilyn Davis and husband Gordon of Mounds View, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Skyler Irwin; and three brothers, Robert, Marion, and Michael Goodwill. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Further visitation will be held on Tuesday from noon to 1:00 PM at the Rometown Community Church at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Pastor Timothy Harger, officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Spartansburg. The family asks that memorials be made to the Rometown Community Church 44364 Harrison Rd.
