Obituary of Margaret Girvin Logan

Mrs. Margaret Girvin Logan, 90, of 632 E. Spruce St. Titusville, died unexpectedly Saturday morning April 23, 2011 at her residence. Margaret was born on November 25, 1920 at Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Baxter and Effie Tyler Girvin. She was married to Douglas C. Logan on Aug. 9, 1938 in New York. Margaret was a graduate of Gardner High School in Gardner, Mass., class of 1938. She was a graduate of The Franklin School of Technology in Philadelphia. She was also a graduate of Edinboro University where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. She also earned her Certificate of Advanced Standing from Harvard University. Margaret had been employed as a teacher with the Union City School District for 28 years until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of the Titusville First Presbyterian Church where she was active with the choir for over 60 years. She was also a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader and Sunday school teacher. Margaret was a member of the Acacia Chapter No. 30 O.E.S.; a member of the Business and Professional Women; a member of the national chapter of Kappa Gamma Pi; and a member of the Harvard Princeton Yale Club, Pittsburgh Chapter. Her children, teaching and church were her primary interests in life. She is survived by her husband of Titusville; two children, Jayne Tyler Logan and husband Patrick H. Yanni, and William A.B. Logan and wife Anne, all of Titusville; two grandchildren, Dion Patrick Young and wife Patti Jo, and Tyler Logan Brenton; four great grandchildren, Ava, Jazmyn, Conan, and Duncan Young; two nieces, Sue Dell of New Hampshire and Suzanne L. Wray of Atlanta, GA; and a nephew, James Dell of New Hampshire. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Douglas C. Logan, Jr.; a daughter, Virginia Louise Logan; a brother, Benjamin Baxter Girvin; and a sister, Sara Girvin Dell. The family will receive friends at the Titusville First Presbyterian Church on Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at which time a memorial service will be conducted with Mrs. Jacqueline Wagner, senior assistant to the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. The family asks that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Benson Memorial Library, or to the National Head Trauma Foundation. FLOWERS
