Obituary of Margaret "Peg" Rhoades

Margaret I. “Peg” Rhoades, 91, of Titusville, passed away Tuesday morning October 23, 2018 at the Titusville Area Hospital.

            Peg was born on January 4, 1927 at Hamburg, NY, a daughter of the late James and Isabelle Gilchrist Millar.  She was married to Paul E. Rhoades on July 23, 1948 at Windy Hill Farms in Titusville.  He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 2003.

            Peg was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1944.  She had been employed with the Titusville Area School District in the cafeteria for 16 years.

            Peg was a member of the Titusville First United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed cooking and baking.

            She is survived by a sister, Amy Felton and her husband Robert of Titusville; two brothers, Harold “Red” Millar and wife Elaine of Williamsburg, VA and Robert Millar of Weston, WV; a grandson, James E. “Jim” Hinckley and wife Justine of Mechanicsburg; two great grandchildren, Brady and Peyton Hinckley; a son-in-law, Joseph Hinckley of Erie; three nieces, Debra Gravens and husband Blaine of Mentor, OH, Christine Stovall and husband Les of Manassas, VA, and Julie Dibbell and husband Tracy of Denver, NC; three nephews, Rich Millar of Dorsett, OH, Don Millar and wife Carrine of Erie, and Steven Felton and wife Chrissy of Golf, IL; and several great nieces and nephews.

            In addition to her parents and husband, Peg was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Hinckley; a brother, Richard Millar; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Miller and Jerry Miller.

            Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Sunday from 2 to 4 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Rev. Larry Reitz of the Titusville First United Methodist Church, officiating.

            Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

            The family asks that memorials be made to the Titusville Area Hospital 406 W. Oak St. Titusville, PA; to the First United Methodist Church 302 W. Walnut St. Titusville, PA 16354; or to the charity of one’s choice.
