Obituary of Catherine Shaffer Moore

Mrs. Catherine “Dot” Shaffer Moore, 94, of Titusville, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at her residence.

She was born in Sigel, PA on April 14, 1924 to the late Wallace A. and Catherine Asel Shaffer.

Catherine graduated from Woofred Schools in Sigel, PA.

She married Mr. Lloyd R. Moore on August 17, 1944.  He preceded her in death on February 2, 1982.

Catherine was a member of the Titusville United Methodist Church.

She worked around the Titusville community, self-employed offering domestic and social work.

Catherine enjoyed being with her family, telling them stories, and enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Marlene Varish and companion Thomas Rocke of Titusville; three grandchildren, Nichole J. Burrows and husband Aaron, Bridgette A Hall and husband D.J., and Daniel L. Conway;  nine great grandchildren, Reid, Jacob, Olivia, and Aubrey Burrows, Natalie and Janna Hall, Melinda and Cody Vistein, and Caleb Conway Hawthorne.

Catherine was preceded in death by four children, Marilyn E. Moore, Melinda J. Moore Conway, and an infant son and daughter; and fourteen siblings, George W. Shaffer, Forrest E. Shaffer, Bertha M. Miller, Carl V. Shaffer, Ray A. Shaffer, Russell M. Shaffer, Ward E. Shaffer, Banks W. Shaffer, Emma L. Coon, Nellie V. Shaffer, Clyde G. Shaffer, Wallace A. Shaffer, Jr., Gafred W. Shaffer, and Donald L. Shaffer.

Friends and family may call at the Hennes-Garrett Funeral Home, 203 E. Main St., Titusville, PA 16354, on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 11 AM to 1 PM, at which time the funeral will be held with Rev. Larry Reitz, of the Titusville United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Sigel, PA.
