Obituary of Donald E Kalkbrenner

Mr. Donald E. Kalkbrenner, 85, of 38068 Mystic Park Rd. died Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 11:26 AM at the Titusville Area Hospital.

               Donald was born on June 14, 1933 in Rome Twp., Crawford County to the late Joseph G. and Jennie Sherman Kalkbrenner. He married Zelia Stutzman on October 17, 1953 at Riceville. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2008.

               He was a graduate of Townville High School. He was a veteran having served in the US Army.  

               Donald worked for the Titusville Police Dept. for over 20 years. He held the position of acting chief and retired with the rank of lieutenant. He and his wife were also co-owners of Green Acres Golf Course.

               He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police F.O.P #50, and the Col. Drake Archery club where he was a founding member.

He enjoyed golf and consistently held a low handicap, and was a member of three summer golf leagues. He was an avid outdoorsman, archery hunter, and was instrumental in getting the compound bow legalized for hunting in Pennsylvania. He liked Penn State Football, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and loved being with family and friends.

               Donald is survived by his three children, Karen Stewart and husband John of Tippery, Timothy Kalkbrenner and wife Cindi, and Karl Kalkbrenner all of Titusville; six grandchildren, Matthew Kalkbrenner, Tonya Kalkbrenner, Jessica Stewart, Emily Stewart, Kevin Kalkbrenner, and Jillian Kinnear; his companion Rosalind “Roz” Metz; a brother Archie Kalkbrenner of Centerville; four sisters, Alice Palmer, Francis “Kay” Stevens, Dorothy Cleland, and Donna Peeples and numerous nieces and nephews.

               He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Emory Kalkbrenner, and one sister Grace Humes.

               Family and friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St., on Saturday from noon to 2PM at which time a funeral service will be conducted.

               Memorial contributions can be made to the Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Golf Tournament at Green Acres Golf Course c/o Karl Kalkbrenner 34881 Armstrong Rd. Townville, PA 16360.
