Ronald Barker

Obituary of Ronald Barker

Ronald L. Barker Sr. of LeCanto, FL passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018, from a sudden heart attack.

He was born in Titusville, PA on April 16, 1940. He was the eldest son of Harold Barker and Lillian Barker Kerr.  He was married in November 1972, to Millie Haugh Barker who survives. He was raised in Titusville, PA and moved to Florida in 1986.

For a number of years, he operated the ‘City Delivery’, worked the oil patch with Duke, did construction, drove school buses and worked at the The Cutlery. He retired from the maintenance department of the Citrus County School District in Florida.

He was an avid deer hunter and it’s appropriate that he left us during the season. He loved fishing with his sons and his old blue recliner will most certainly miss him.

He was extremely proud of his children, Butch, Buster, Lisa and Rodney, along with his step children, Cindy, Cheryl, Christina and Bill. He would talk about them for as long as you were willing to listen. They all survive him.

Additionally, he is survived by his siblings, Barbara Barker, Vernon (Florence) Barker, Chester (Mary) Barker and Marlene Barker McMunn; his in-laws, Gary (Virginia) Haugh, Bart Haugh and Opal O’Grady;  grandkids, Becky, Andrea, Jessica, Tonja, LaCole, Jason, Jennifer, Austin, Tony, Michele, Morgan, Nick, Meaghan, Collin, Shannon, Kaitlyn and Will, numerous great-grandchildren,  nieces, nephews and cousins are too numerous to mention.

For the last 7 years, Ron and Millie have fostered three siblings, Matthew, Zachery and LillyAnn, providing them with a stable and loving home environment. They will miss him dearly.

The family would be remiss if we fail to mention his previous spouse, Loretta A Caldwell, who attends all of the Barker family functions and his friend, Jeff, the attorney whom he treated as another son.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter-in-law, Sandy Barker; his brother-in-law, Patrick McMunn; his special cousin, Denny Biltz; and nephew, Paul Barker. He spoke fondly of them often.

Pennsylvania family and friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA 16354 on Wednesday from 11:00 to 1:00 PM with a funeral service to follow conducted by Rev. William Hopkins.

Interment will be in Jamison Corners Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to your local heart or diabetes association.

He’ll see us again when we get there, “ain’t that right, Millie?”
