Obituary of Donald C. Taylor

Mr. Donald C. Taylor, 88, of Titusville, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at his residence.

He was born in Pittsburgh on August 30, 1930 to the late Joseph H. and Lillian Henry Taylor.

Don graduated from Titusville Colestock High School, class of 1950.

He was a veteran of the United State Army.  He entered the service on January 17, 1952 at Pittsburgh, PA. He served overseas in the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on January 14, 1954 at Ft. George G. Meade, MD with the rank of corporal.

Don married Joan “Jo” Hilliard on September 24, 1954 in Titusville.  She preceded him in death on August 4, 2009.

He was employed as a truck driver at the former Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp., the Titusville Dairy, and the Gage Company.

Don attended the Titusville First Baptist Church.

He was a proud member of the Bruce Shorts VFW Post 5958, Titusville BPO Elks Lodge 264, and the Titusville Lodge No. 754 F. & A.M.

Don belonged to the Elder Statesmen golf league at Green Acres golf course.  He volunteered for many functions at the VFW, including the Honor Guard.  He enjoyed gardening, golfing, and hunting.

He is survived by a son, D. Jay Taylor of Titusville; five grandchildren, Andrew Taylor and companion Melissa Cazares and daughter Skylar of Smithfield, VA , Aaron Taylor and wife Megan of Titusville, Alex Taylor and wife Gabi of Dover, DE , Sean Kerr and girlfriend Lauren Hopwood of Titusville, and Shannon Kerr of Titusville; a great grandson, Cole Taylor; a sister, Beverly Bangs and husband John of Dallas, TX; and a brother, Joseph Taylor and wife Connie of Middleburg, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

                In addition to his parents and wife, Don was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Taylor and a sister, Lillian Mowris.

Friends and family may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and attend the service there on Saturday at 11:00 AM with Margaret Fiely officiating.

Interment will be in East Troy Cemetery.
