Obituary of Carl C Eldred

Mr. Carl C. Eldred, 83, of Centerville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 7:05 PM at his residence following an extended illness.

               Carl was born on October 22, 1935 in Titusville to the late Herman D. and Barbara A. Aiken Eldred. He married Betty Murray on May 28, 1957 in Titusville.

               Carl was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1954.

               He was a veteran and spent twenty years in the U.S. Navy and retired with the rank of Master Chief.

               Carl worked at Queen Cutlery for twelve years as the Plant Manager and then as the executive director of C.H.O.S.E.N Mission Project where he traveled to many foreign countries assisting in the development of medical facilities until his retirement, and was also involved in SARA Ministries with Rev. Stephen Szilagyi.

               He was a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church where he served in many positions including church council, trustee, lay speaker and singing in the choir. He was also a member of Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, Disabled American Veterans Charity (DAV), the Elder Statesmen Golf League, and the Senior Bowling League at Lin Van Lanes. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter enjoying the great outdoors as well as spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his kind heart, great sense of humor and his tremendous love for the Lord.  

               Carl is survived by his wife Betty of Centerville; four children, Bonnie Hull and husband Robert of Titusville, Peggy Hatch and husband David of Ashville, NC, Sandra “Sandi” Rose of Weatherford, TX and Steven Eldred and wife Dawn of Titusville; ten grandchildren, Christopher Stewart of Clearwater, FL, Heather Stewart of Titusville, Amber Reed and husband Jared of Aliquippa, PA, Sarah Porcelanuk and husband Jared of Orlando, FL, John Crone of Durham, NC, Jennifer Rose of Titusville, Michael Rose of Stevensville, MT, Rachel Eldred, Matthew Eldred and Ian Eldred all of Titusville; eight great grandchildren, Reese Stewart, Harper Stewart, Conner Reed, Aubrey Reed, Kaeden and Cameron Bauer, Hunter Rose and Owen Eldred; a brother Herman Eldred of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

In addition to his parents Carl was preceded in death by a brother Robert Eldred and a sister Doreen Smith.

               Family and friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St. on Tuesday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM and attend a funeral service the next day at 11 AM at the Centerville United Methodist Church with, Pastor Jim Cannnistraci, and Pastor Gary Kinnear, officiating. Full military honors will be observed.

               Interment will be at Sunnyside Cemetery.
