Obituary of Howard L Propheter, Sr.
Mr. Howard L. Propheter, Sr., 88, formerly of Mystic Park Rd. Centerville, died on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Country Acres Personal Care Home.
Howard was born on May 16, 1930 in Titusville to the late George and Hazel Goodwill Propheter. He married Marian A. VanCise on July 24, 1950. She preceded him in death on February 14, 2018.
He attended St. Titus schools.
Howard worked for over 30 years at Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting fishing, and archery. He also enjoyed playing golf and being with family and friends.
Howard is survived by his four children, Howard “Skip” Propheter, Jr. and wife Chris of Centerville, Brenda Douglas and husband Cork of Meadville, George Propheter and wife Rita of Centerville, and Melissa A. Propheter of Warren; twelve grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; a brother Bernie Propheter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia Wright, Marie Manross, and Jean Propheter; and two brothers George Propheter, Jr. and Richard Propheter.
Family and friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc., 303 N. Washington St. on Friday (Today) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be private to the family.
Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
