Obituary of Robert L Dallas
Robert L. Dallas, 93, of Titusville, passed away Monday afternoon March 25, 2019 at his son’s residence in Cambridge Springs.
Bob was born on May 26, 1925 in Oil City, a son of the late Harry and Irene Galmish Dallas. He was married to Joan Hill on June 4, 1949. She preceded him in death on April 29, 2016.
Bob had attended the Oil City schools and Dubois Business College. He was owner of Dallas Lumber Company from which he retired.
Bob was a veteran having served in the US Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He was an engineer with the 149th Engineer Corps and landed at Omaha Beach with the first troops to invade Normandy.
Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Titusville where he had served on the board. He was also a member of the American Heart Association.
He was a member of the 50th Anniversary Council for the Battle of Normandy; a charter member of the National World War II Museum; and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and of the American Legion. He was awarded the French Legion of Honor on June 3, 2014.
Bob was also a former member of the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce. He and his wife were also supporters of Wesbury United Methodist Community.
Bob was also awarded the Certificate of Appreciation for his 10 years in the Cooperative Farm Game Program.
Bob enjoyed hunting, traveling to the west and Canada with his hunting buddies. He and his wife enjoyed spending time with family, especially their grandchildren, as well as quality time with his close friends.
He is survived by a son, David Dallas and his wife Cecile of Cambridge Springs and a daughter, Jan Ricci and her husband Vic of Meadville; and grandchildren, Robert Paul Dallas and Laura Helen Dallas of Kennerdell.
No public calling hours will be observed. Private graveside services will be held for the family at Grove Hill Cemetery in Oil City.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Erie and also for the care provided by Hospice of Crawford County.
