Obituary of Jane Lindquist
Mrs. Jane Benedict Lindquist, 92, formerly of 353 Main St. Pleasantville, died Monday morning May 9, 2011 at Southwoods Assisted Living Community in Titusville.
Born on January 6, 1919 at Pleasantville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Jane Dunham Benedict. She regaled her family throughout her life with tales of the doings of the Benedict and Dunham families. She married Elmer C. Lindquist on July 17, 1943 in Pleasantville. He preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 2008.
She was a graduate of the Pleasantville High School, class of 1936 and a graduate of Edinboro University earning her teaching degree. She was initially hired to teach in a one room school in the Miles Run section of Youngsville. She taught school for thirty years, twenty years with the Oil City School District, until her retirement in 1981. As a retired teacher, she loved to watch children attend school at the Pleasantville School and served as a volunteer.
Mrs. Lindquist was a member of the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church where she was a lifelong member. She was also a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees; Alpha Tau Chapter Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Society; Pleasantville Women’s Club; Venango County Historical Society; and the Tidioute Chapter of the DAR.
She is survived by a son, Charles Lindquist of Youngsville; a daughter, Nancy Lindquist and husband Victor Arencibia of Mt. Tabor, NJ; two grandchildren, Julian Arencibia, and Timothy Arencibia and companion Caitlyn Smith; a great granddaughter, Deanna Arencibia; and a brother, Harold Benedict of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Richard, Charles and David Benedict; and two sisters, Mary Cox and Helen Sparks.
A memorial service will be conducted for family and friends at a time to be announced.
