Obituary of Ruby W. Thompson

Ruby W. Thompson, 81, of 416 Pioneer Road Titusville, passed away Wednesday morning May 8, 2019 at her residence.

            Ruby was born on June 8, 1937 at Goldsboro, NC, a daughter of the late Leland Harvey Walston and Penny Leona Jones.  She was married to Richard Thompson, Sr. on April 25, 1959.

            Ruby was a graduate of the Goldsboro, NC High School.

            Ruby had attended the Centerville Free Methodist Church.

            She was a member of the Lin Vanettes women’s bowling league and of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.  Ruby enjoyed camping, fishing, shopping, family get togethers and fish fries, and spending time with her grandchildren.

            Ruby is survived by her husband Richard of Titusville; three children, Debra Cherry and husband Mike of Grand Valley, Brenda Strawbridge and companion Dick Hunt of Titusville, and Rick Thompson, Jr. and wife Judy of Titusville; five grandchildren, Bobi Jo Barnes and husband Christopher of Cleveland, OH, Travis Strawbridge of Titusville, Michael Cherry, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Corry, Natasha Roggenkamp and husband Cole of Titusville, and Hunter Thompson of Titusville; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Harris of Tarboro, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Johnny Worrell; a sister; and four brothers.

            Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Monday May 13th from 2 to 4 PM.  A celebration of her life will be held immediately after 4 PM at the Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion 113 E. Central Ave. Titusville, PA.

            The family asks that memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Crawford County 406 W. Oak St. Titusville, PA 16354 or to the Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion 113 E. Central Ave. Titusville, PA 16354.
