Obituary of William W. Thomas

Mr. William W. Thomas, 82, of 14692 Sate Hwy 8, Titusville died at 3:35 AM on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Titusville Area Hospital. Mr. Thomas was born on October 14, 1928 in Titusville to the late Clayton and Ella Walters Thomas. He married Arlene Foley on April 14, 1950 at St. Titus Church. He was a graduate of Titusville High School and served in the US Army. Mr. Thomas was formerly employed as an agent for the Pennsylvania Dept. of Liquor Control for many years. Prior to that, he was a police officer for Titusville, then police chief at Pleasantville, and for Oil Creek Twp. He was a member of the Titusville F & A.M. Lodge 724, Oil City Lodge of Perfection, New Castle Consistory, and Zem Zem Shriners. He also belonged to the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion, B.P.O Elks Lodge 264, and the PNA. Mr. Thomas enjoyed hunting and going to Presque Isle Downs. He is survived by his wife Arlene Thomas of Titusville; a daughter, Colleen Clark and husband Jeff of Titusville; a son, David Thomas of Titusville; five grandsons, Clarence Thomas and wife Pam of Titusville, Shawn Thomas and wife Cheryl of Pleasantville, Charles Thomas of Titusville, Steven Thomas and wife Erica of Franklin, Kenneth Thomas of Titusville; 8 great grandchildren; three sisters, Edith Potter and husband Jerry of Titusville, Roberta Vinopal of Peru, IN, Ida Mae Kepler and husband Lawrence of NC. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by three sons, James M. Thomas, Patrick G. Thomas, Charles A. Thomas; and three brothers, Robert, Samuel and Edwin Thomas. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home today (Friday) from 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday at 2:00 PM with Dr. Gene Andrews, a nephew, officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16505. FLOWERS
