Obituary of Dennis F Hartle

            Mr. Dennis F. Hartle, 77, of Titusville, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Marquette Hospice House in Meadville. 

            He was born in Marble, PA on December 5, 1941 to the late Edward L. Hartle and Bernice A. Fasenmyer.

            Dennis graduated from Titusville High School, class of 1960. 

            He joined the United States Navy in 1961, and was honorably discharged in 1965.  He was a “Tin Can” sailor, who sailed on the U.S.S. Rogers DD 8876 and U.S.S. Richard B. Anderson DD 786. 

            He returned to Titusville in 1965 and worked at that Titusville Fire Department for 30 years.  He retired as Assistant Chief in 1996.

            Dennis enjoyed the outdoors, camping and boating at Canadohta Lake, and hiking in the Allegheny National Forest and Oil Creek State Park.  He was artistically talented and spent countless hours photographing the outdoors and wildlife.  He was an officer of Masonic Lodge 754, and a member of the “Over the Hill Gang”, Crawford-Venango Fire School Committee, Tin Can Sailors, Cleo J. Ross American Legion Post 368, Bruce Shorts VFW Post 5958, Elks Lodge 264, and Friends of Drake Well.

            He is survived by his loving wife, of 51 years, Marjorie A. (Loper) Hartle of Titusville; his son, Kevin E. Hartle and wife Michele of Lewisville, NC; and two grandchildren, Joseph and Anna Hartle. Dennis will be fondly remembered by his brother Rodney Hartle and wife Rita of Fryburg; and his nieces and nephew, Gina and husband Rich of Johnsonburg,  Roddy and wife Misty of Leeper, and Monica and husband Andy of Lucinda.

            Friends and family may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St .Titusville today (Friday) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.  Members of the Titusville Lodge No. 754 F.&A.M. will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home today (Friday) at 5:45 PM.

             A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM at St. Titus Church with Fr. Walter E. Packard, as celebrant.

            Full military rites will be observed.

            Inurnment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Fryburg, PA.
