Obituary of William H. Kolacek

Mr. William H. Kolacek, 85, of 481 Troy Center Rd., Titusville died at 6:25 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Clarion Hospital. Mr. Kolacek was born on July 7, 1925 in Titusville to the late Ludwig and Marie Kolacek. He was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1943. He served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. He was stationed with the 71st Division, 202nd Engineer C Battalion. He fought in three campaigns in Europe and was awarded the European-African-Middle East Campaign medal, World War II Victory medal, and the Good Conduct medal. At the time of his honorable discharge he had the rank of Technician 5th Grade. Mr. Kolacek was formerly employed by Struthers Wells Corp. for over 20 years and retired from Cytemp Specialty Steel Corp. where he was a welder for over 15 years. He was a member of the Diamond Evangelical United Methodist Church, the Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion, and the Diamond Evangelical United Methodist Men. Mr. Kolacek enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife Celia DeVault Shreffler Kolacek of Titusville, whom he married on August 20, 1988 at the Diamond Evangelical United Methodist Church; one son, Karl E. Kolacek and wife Deb of Titusville; two daughters, Diann Palmquist and husband Ernie of TN, Linda Shaffer and husband Eugene of Titusville; four step-sons, Rev. Larry D. Shreffler and wife Doris of Sandy Lake, Rev. James E. Shreffler and wife Sherry of Oil City, Daniel D. Shreffler of Carlton, Mark E. Shreffler of Oil City; one step-daughter, Celia M. O’Brien of Oil City; 23 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Kolacek was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann Kightlinger Kolacek, whom he married on Sept. 14, 1947 in Diamond and preceded him in death on July 17, 1987; one brother, Clarence Kolacek; and one sister, Helen Calvin. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville today from 6 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the Diamond Evangelical United Methodist Church on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Stephen Tiffany, pastor of the Church, and Rev. Gerald Miller former pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will be in Diamond Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diamond E.U.M.
