Obituary of Jean Carlson
Mrs. Jean Carlson, 86, of 105 N. Perry St. Titusville, died peacefully Thursday, June 16, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her family.Jean was born on August 8, 1924 at Dubois, PA, a daughter of the late Howard and Celia McNaughton Shaffer. She was married to Willis D. “Willie” Carlson on Feb. 6, 1981 at the Titusville First United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on July 22, 2005. She was previously married to Gerald Matson.
Jean was a graduate of Sandy Lake High School. She had been employed at the Titusville Area Hospital in the dietary department for over 30 years until her retirement in 1995.
She was a member of the Titusville First United Methodist Church; a member of the Red Hat Society; was active with the Senior Center; and a member of the Card Club.
She enjoyed spending time with her family; trying new recipes; and decorating cakes.
She is survived by four children; Darla Moore and husband Bert of Shreveport, LA, Richard Matson and wife Nancy of Farmington, Maine, Rebecca Vroman and husband Bruce of Titusville, and Lori Wakefield and husband Craig of Bealeton, VA; numerous grandchildren; a great granddaughter; step-daughters, Margaret Watson and husband James of Titusville and Darlene Christensen and husband James of Northeast; step-daughters-in-law, Eva Carlson and Marjorie Carlson of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a great grandson; two step-sons, Howard and Edward Carlson; a brother, Orrin Shaffer; and three sisters, Ruth Carlson, Marjorie Weible, and Yvonne Foust.
Friends may call at the Titusville First United Methodist Church on Monday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Rev. William Blair officiating.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
