Obituary of Norman E. Wilson

Norman beloved husband of Patricia, cherished father, treasured by family and friends, passed away June 1, 2010 at 9:00 AM at his residence. Norman was born on July 22, 1930 in Titusville to the late Ralph B. and Emerald J. Wilson. He married Patricia Jones on Aug. 3, 1950, and shared fifty-nine wonderful and exciting years together. He cherished the time spent with his wife, and thrived on the love of his family, and extended family. Norman was so proud of each and every one of them. Norman was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1948. He also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the former St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, and Jr. Chamber of Commerce in Titusville. Norman was employed by Lake Dealership, and later at Reed Pontiac and Cadillac as a service manager. When the business was sold he took training in Meadville as a machinist. He was then employed by Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. in the Precision Rolled Dept. for 35 years. He retired in 1994. While employed at Cyclops he received numerous monetary awards for his designs to make the PRP Dept. more efficient, and machines safer for employees. He enjoyed motorcycling, prior to his illness, he always enjoyed camping, traveling, reading, doing crossword puzzles and listening to all music but preferred classical. Norman was a compassionate person with a friendly personality; always ready to listen to others. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife Patricia Wilson of Centerville; three sons, Rodney E. Wilson and wife Becky of Titusville, Mark S. Wilson of Townville, Rory J. Wilson and wife Julie of Orofino, Id; son-in-law, Robert E. Rice and wife Kelly of Tryonville; 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, two cousins who he was raised with, Sanford B. Wilson and wife Irene of Titusville and James J. Wilson and wife Annie of Cooperstown; sister-in-law, Margaret P. Jones of Eugene, OR; brother-in-law, Ralph L. Jones of Centerville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Jan Eileen Wilson-Rice; a brother, John Kissinger; sister-in-law, Elaine Jones; brother-in-law, William H. Jones and a nephew, Terry W. Jones. No calling hours will be observed. A private memorial service will be conducted for the family at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Kinnear of the Breedtown Baptist Church, officiating. Interment of ashes will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Centerville.
