Obituary of Ronald P. "Ron" Emig

Ronald P. “Ron” Emig, 85, of Grand Valley, PA, passed away Friday, April 10, 2020 at his residence. Ron was born on July 26, 1934 at Cleveland, OH, a son of the late Russell and Doris Walker Emig. He was married to Barbara Leonard who survives. Ron was a graduate of Saegertown High School and earned his master’s degree in education at Fredonia State University. He was an elementary art teacher with the Forestville Central School District in New York for 19 years until his retirement. Ron had also worked as a tour guide and manager in Charleston, SC following his retirement. He was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Ron enjoyed writing children’s books, poems, music, and playing his guitar. He loved riding and racing motorcycles, camping and being in nature. He traveled all over the East Coast and enjoyed spending time and telling stories with his family. He is survived by his wife Barbara of Grand Valley; two children, Jeffrey Emig and wife Gypsy of Charleston, SC and Cheryl Robinson and husband Lon of Silver Creek, NY; daughter-in-law, Linnea Emig of Goose Creek, SC; four grandchildren, Sarah Winton and husband Brian of Sinclairville, NY, Mathew Robinson of Silver Creek, NY, Cody and Noah Emig of Goose Creek, SC.; two great grandchildren, Evelyn and Colten Winton; a sister, Sharon Clement and husband Jeff of Dorset, OH; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Emig; a brother, Denny Emig; and a sister, Linda Field. No public visitation will be observed. Interment will be private. A celebration of Ron's life will be conducted at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions in Ron's memory be made to the Grand Valley Volunteer Fire Dept.
