First of all, I'm awfully sorry to learn of Barb's passing. She was sweet, and kind, and you and Barb were good neighbors. I live in Kirtland, Ohio, about two hours west of Chapmanville, and around here, a good neighbor is someone that doesn't bother you. You and Barb were the kind of good neighbors that we depended upon when hard times came. The kind of neighbors who were the insurance policy for the community. Honest, helpful people sharing the load from time to time. Here's one particular memory I have Barb.
A long time ago, in 1979, I was allowed to come and get some of the mountain of compost that had built up over the years, from Barb cleaning the barn and wheeling the load over to the pile. After a while, she had a long path of boards on top of the pile to extend it. Eventually she was traveling quite a long way with the wheelbarrow, from the barn to the pile. Then the angle of the boards were elevated to make the pile taller. It was an engineering marvel to see as I drove by. It was a monument to her effort and strength, for such a small woman.
I'm sorry John, and I send condolences to you and the family.
Sincerely,
Jim Davis
