Obituary of Norma Arlene Clark

On July 16, 2011, Norma Arlene Clark died peacefully at home in the arms of her husband. Born February 4, 1933 she was the youngest of 12 children. She was raised by her mother, Tillie Burdick Matha, in a country home in Marienville, PA. She struck out on her own as a young girl and married Jack D. Clark, her husband of 61 years. Sons Douglas and Gary were born to the couple in Titusville, PA. Norma was well known in the Titusville area. She often worked two jobs and worked in such businesses as Sylvania in Pleasantville, Robinson’s Wallcoverings, and Ross and Cox Men’s Store. She also waitressed at Kay and Buddy’s Restaurant and became manager of Hogan’s Palace Restaurant. She also worked for several years as office manager for Dr. Kenneth Heasley’s pediatric office where she watched many area kids grow to maturity. During her working years she and Jack owned Clark Apartments. She managed the rentals and actively participated in painting and cleaning the units. She kept and immaculate home where her artistic and decorating skills were on display. She often helped decorate her church and made arrangements as gifts for family and friends. Known as an excellent cook and hostess, Norma fixed special dinners for family and friends and set an eye popping table. Fortunately she has passed along many delicious recipes to her family. Norma is survived by her husband Jack, eldest son Doug and his wife Nancy of Cherrytree Twp., son Gary and special friend Kelly Evans of Titusville. Sister Eva Harmon of Pleasantville is the sole remaining sibling. Norma has 10 grandchildren whom she lavished with affection along with 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. During her illness she made a special effort to reconnect with all of her family. She was especially pleased that nephews Jack, Chuck, Mark and Dennis Luden along with nieces Debbie Hinz, Hope Ann Falk, Betsy Harris and their families visited and corresponded with her frequently. The help of friends Leanne Lindquist and Joe Messina during her illness was also greatly appreciated by Norma and her family. No calling hours will be observed. A funeral service celebrating the life of Norma Arlene Clark will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Titusville with Mrs. Jacqueline Wagner and her nephew Pastor Christopher Clark, officiating. A private gathering of the family will be held at the church at 10:00 AM prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Centerville.
