Obituary of Elsie M Seely Ghering
Elsie M. Seely Ghering, 87, of Oil City, went to be with the Lord Saturday afternoon at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Elsie was born on February 23, 1933 in Amarillo, TX, a daughter of the late Cline and Hattie Hale Pringle. She was married to Clifford Ghering on January 31, 1998 at the Oakland United Methodist Church in Dempseytown who survives.
Elsie was previously married to Arden Seely on September 26, 1953 at Bradleytown. He preceded her in death.
Elsie was a graduate of Colestock High School in Titusville where she played the baritone in the Marching Band.
She was a former member of the Lamey United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher; a member of the former Wallaceville United Methodist Church; and had attended the Franklin First Baptist Church.
The most important thing for Elsie was her family. She enjoyed spending time with them. They were together often from enjoying each other’s company on ordinary days to festive holiday gatherings. She traveled extensively with her family across the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. She loved talking on the phone, baking bread, her flowers, especially her begonias; and all the aspects of farm life which she experienced in her earlier years. She enjoyed being with the family dog “Ruby”. She had a great love for her Lord Jesus Christ.
Elsie is survived by her husband Clifford of Oil City; three children: Cathy Harmon and husband Thomas of Oil City, Linda Mitchell and husband Mark of Cooperstown, and Jordan Seely and wife Missy of Rocky Grove; nine grandchildren, Melissa Wolfgong and husband Edward, Michael Harmon and wife Stephanie, Sarah Foster and husband LeRoy, David Harmon and wife Amber, Lisa Woge and husband Mark, Molly Haskins and husband Todd, Nicholas Mitchell and wife Alli, Josephine Seely and Abigail Seely; 19 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a brother, Edwin “Chub” Pringle of Titusville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Seely; a great grandson, Haven Mitchell; and three brothers, Lawrence, Elrie, and Norman Pringle.
No public calling hours will be observed.
Private services for the family will be conducted from the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville, PA 16354.
Interment will be in Lamey Cemetery.
