Obituary of James A. Lowros

Dr. James A. Lowros, 88, formerly of Titusville and Oil City died at 6:40 PM on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the Golden LivingCenter in Oil City. He had been a resident there since December. Dr. Lowros was born on February 21, 1923 in Titusville to the late Anthony J. and Christina Pesat Lowros. He was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific on the USS Gilbert Islands. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sargent. Following his discharge Dr. Lowros entered chiropractic school and earned a degree from Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis, IN and Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis, MO. He returned home and worked as a self-employed chiropractor in the Titusville area for over 60 years. He also worked for the PA Game Commission as a deputy game protector for 34 years and as a forest fire warden. He was a member of the PA Chiropractic Society. He also served on the Titusville Shade Tree Committee and with the PA Fish & Boat Commission as a volunteer. Dr. Lowros is survived by his companion, Treva Morrison of Oil City; two children, Jamie Davidson and her companion Lane Fortney of Titusville, Anthony J. “Tony” Lowros and his wife Margaret of Vance, AL; five grandchildren, Christopher Davidson and wife Amy of Penn Hills, Andrea Winger of Cambridge Springs, Seth Davidson and wife Hayley of Pittsburgh, Kelly Shoemaker and husband Chris of NJ, Tyler Lowros and wife Autumn of Kimberly, AL; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert D. Lowros of Titusville; two sisters, Dorothy Cervone of FL, Christine “Bessie” Lowros of Wilmington, DE; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Merritt; two brothers, William and Milton Lowros; and three sisters, Mary Lowros, Gladys Zarbo and Elizabeth Robertson. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service from the funeral home on Monday at 11:30 AM with Rev. Mark Rusnak, Chaplain for Asera Care Hospice in Erie, officiating. Interment will be in Heckathorn Cemetery with full military rites observed. FLOWERS
