Obituary of Karen J. Holtz

Karen J. Holtz, 63, of Ledyard, Conn., died Monday, May 31, 2010 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, Conn. She was kind, caring and compassionate. A truly good person. Karen was born on Sept 19, 1946 in Titusville, a daughter of the late George and Ruby Bennett Krause. She was married to Gregory Holtz on April 23, 1977. Karen had been employed for the past 25 years as housekeeping manager at The Inn at Mystik in Mystik, Conn. In addition to her husband, Karen is survived by her mother-in-law, Alene Holtz of Pleasantville; three brothers, Fred Krause of Chesapeake, VA, Dennis Krause of Titusville, and Steve Krause of Palmyra, VA; five nieces, Ruby Sterling and Michelle Wilson of Titusville, Natalie Barko of Butler, Wendy Napier of Niagara Falls, NY, and Stephanie Krause of Chesapeake, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and James Krause and a sister, Teresa Barko. No public visitation will be observed. Friends may attend a graveside service on Friday at 11:00 AM at Fairview Cemetery in Pleasantville with Rev. Susan Speakman, pastor of the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church, officiating. The family asks that memorials be made to any local Salvation Army.
