Obituary of Robert H. Gilson

Mr. Robert H. “Bob” Gilson, 91, of Centerville, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 2:00 a.m. at his residence.

            Bob was born on March 11, 1929 in Erie to the late Leo and Mildred Lorei Gilson. He married Lena Wetherbee on November 6, 1954. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2019.

            He was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean War and was also stationed in Germany.

            Bob was a construction worker for 50 years for the Laborer’s International Union.

            He was a member of the Centerville Baptist Church.

            Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and building things.

            He survived by the five children; William Gilson and wife Karen of New Richmond, Dewayne Gilson and wife Janet of Punxsutawney, Robert Gilson and wife Cheryl of Meadville, Priscilla Schlosser and husband Frank of Saegertown, and Darla Pattison and husband Nelson of Meadville; nine grandchildren, Annette Roberts and husband Bruce, Andrew Gilson, Olivia Berroth and husband Jason, Alicia Gilson, Hollie Goulish and husband Theron, Andrea Crawford and husband Ken, Benjamin Gilson and wife Vanessa, Nathaniel Gilson and wife Nicole, and Marlee Gilson; 13 great grandchildren and another on the way;  a sister, Mary Lou McMillian and husband Donald of Blooming Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

            Bob was preceded in death by a brother John Gilson, a sister Virginia Hamilton; and a nephew David Hamilton.

            Family and friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Friday from 11 AM to 1 PM.  The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday with Pastor Gary Kinnear officiating.  Full military rites will be conducted by the local veterans. The family requests that visitors us face masks.

            Interment will be at New Richmond Cemetery.
