Obituary of Howard Theodore Madsen
Howard Theodore Madsen, Jr., 94, formerly of Manchester, Connecticut passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Southwoods Assisted Living Community in Titusville, PA. He had been a resident there for the past 3 years.
Howard was born on December 26, 1926 in Hartford, CT to the late Howard T. and Anna (Borman) Madsen, Sr. He married Muriel June England on September 24, 1949. Muriel predeceased him in death on November 10, 1966.
Howard was a WWII veteran serving in the United States Navy. He was part of the original crew of the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Howard retired from Connecticut Bank and Trust Company (CBT) where he worked as a Trust Officer. In his retirement years he enjoyed volunteering at the Bushnell Performing Arts Center and UCONN sporting events. He enjoyed biking, hiking, cross-country skiing and traveled extensively.
Howard is survived by his daughter, Karen Johnson and husband Stephen of Titusville, PA; a granddaughter, Jessica Leech and husband Ryan of North Canton, OH; 3 great-grandchildren, Caroline, Blane and Avery Leech; a brother, Raymond Madsen and wife Ann of Enfield, CT; a special friend, Magda Rooney of Manchester, CT; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Madsen.
A celebration of Howard’s life will be conducted at a later date in Connecticut.
Inurnment of ashes will be in East Cemetery, Manchester, CT.
