Obituary of Dale Matthew Stearns

Dale Matthew “Stearnzi” Stearns, 43, of 322 N. Perry St., Titusville died at 12:45 AM on Saturday, August 20, 2011 from injuries sustained in an airplane accident. Dale was born on April 11, 1968 in Franklin to the late Phyllis McClintock Stearns who preceded him in death on June 3, 2009. He was a graduate of Maplewood High School, class of 1986. He also served in the United States Marine Corps. Dale was employed as a welder at Joy Mining Machinery in Franklin. He was a member of the Titusville Branch Fellowship where he served as an Elder. Dale was a pilot for twelve years and was the current President of the Drake Flying Club which he was also a founder. He was an accomplished athlete, an avid Steelers fan, and a former coach for the Green Hornets youth football team and Titusville youth wrestling program. Those who knew Dale knew of his strong commitment to his wife and two children of whom he was their greatest fan. He was exceedingly loved by all who knew him. Dale is survived by his wife Geri Lynn Stearns whom he married on July 31, 1993 at the Mt. Carmel Tabernacle in Dempseytown; two children, Linsey Renee Stearns and Dan Matthew Stearns both at home; his mother-in-law, Fay L. Corley of Titusville; a niece, Erin S. Corley of Townville; 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and several additional nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the Titusville Branch Fellowship located on the corners of N. Perry St. and W. Spruce St., on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Troy Funte and Pastor Jerry Lamey, officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Titusville Area Food Bank 134 W. Central Ave., Love INC (Love in Christ) 101 W. Spring St., Titusville Branch Fellowship 224 W. Spruce St., Titusville, PA 16354.
