Obituary of Edna Mae Wilson
Miss Edna Mae Wilson, 82, of Bethesda, MD, formerly of Conneaut Lake, died Thursday, August 25, 2011at Wesbury United Methodist Community in Meadville.Edna was born on June 25, 1929 at Apollo, PA, a daughter of the late Samuel H. and Frances M. Garris Wilson.
Edna was a graduate of the Conneaut Lake High School, class of 1947, and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, class of 1952 where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
Edna was employed as a registered nurse at Montgomery County Health Department at Rockville, MD for 27 years until her retirement in 1992.
Edna was a former member of the Trinity United Methodist Church at Conneaut Lake, PA.
She was a current member of the Chevy Chase United Methodist Church at Chevy Chase, MD where she devoted much of her time to volunteer work. She was a member of the Altar Guild, Communion Guild, Memorial Committee, and theWedding Coordinator Committee. She was also a representative for Christian Care Giving, UMW Bible Study Group, and a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. She was a former member of the church bowling league and Retiree Committee of the church. She also was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Edna enjoyed cross stitch, needlepoint, and reading. She also enjoyed spending time with her family including her nieces and nephews.
Edna is survived by a sister, Velma Aschenbach of Carrollton,VA; two brothers, Samuel R. Wilson and companion Donna Gardner of Brooksville, FLA and John F. Wilson and wife Karen of Hadley, PA; an uncle, Frank Garris and wife Joyce of Meadville; numerous nieces and nephews; and a dear friend Larry Hall of Germantown, MD.
Friends may attend a memorial service on Saturday, Aug. 27th at 4:30 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Conneaut Lake, PA with Rev. Jay Sterling, pastor, and Rev. David Brumagin, associate pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Meadville.
