Obituary of Dorothy M. Nichols

Mrs. Dorothy M. Nichols, 84, formerly of 12102 Ghering Rd., Centerville, passed away Sunday evening on August 28, 2011, at the Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown. She had been a resident there since June of 2004. Mrs. Nichols was born on June 21, 1927 in Pleasantville to the late James and Gladys Rifenberg-Waddell Sr. She married James R. Nichols on April 30, 1948. Mr. Nichols passed away on March 24, 1992. She was a graduate of Pleasantville School class of 1945 and Stratton Business College in Buffalo, NY. Mrs. Nichols was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending lots of time with her family. She was a very active member of her church, The First Assembly of God in Titusville for many years up until the time of her illness. She also attended Lyona Bible Church for several years. Mrs. Nichols is survived by the following children, Rev. James Nichols and his wife Jill of Lemont, IL, Arthur Nichols of Titusville, Gary Nichols and his wife Pam of Erie, Kathy Campasino and her husband John of Centerville, Lori Saxton and her husband Carl of Townville; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Waddell, Jr., Richard Waddell and his wife Bonnie all of Pleasantville; one sister, Marilyn Houghtling and her husband Jack of Springfield, MO; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one sister, Margaret “Peggy” Waddell. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service from the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Dorothy’s son, Rev. James Nichols, officiating. Interment will be in Kingsley Cemetery, Townville. Memorial contributions may be made the charity of one’s choice. FLOWERS
