To the Sample Family:

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Mike’s recent passing; my condolences to your family. I first met Mike shortly after he took over Herald operations. I was the Lions Club PR-Program chairman and submitted my initial pieces for publication in the club news section. I told Mike any input would be appreciated, as I hoped the programs the members heard would also be of interest to the Herald readers. Mike offered some very helpful suggestions on composition and photography and other insight that I adopted immediately. I utilized those ideas during my entire time in that club assignment; I am forever grateful to him for his publication wisdom. We often talked about other issues over the years and I always walked away learning something new and interesting from him. He will be missed by the many faces that saw him working in the various capacities not just at the Herald but in the community. Mark Conrad

I am so sorry for your loss. I have not seen Michael in more than 20 years, but I still remember how his face lit-up when Sydney was born. He had such a kind face, always smiling … may he rest in peace. My heart and prayers go out to you and your family.

Sending condolences to Deb, Sydney, & John George,

I was privileged to know Mike as one of the kindness business man. I worked for the Titusville Area School District as the first Alumni Director and the board of director gave approval for composing a paper twice a year. Mike knew I had no knowledge at all, for composing a paper such as a normal newspaper. He had so much patience with me the first few issues composing the articles, then placing them in the correct manner, etc. I was so blessed for those 16 years, Also, in the early years, I had to take the paper to the Corry Journal, where Mike introduced me to Marj Willison -- another treasure in the newspaper business. Mike will be forever a friend that I will never forget. God be with you as you adjust your lives without this beautiful human being in your lives.
