Obituary of Daniel T Jones
Mr. Daniel T. “Dan” Jones, 85, of Youngsville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie.
Dan was born on December 10, 1936, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to the late Robert and Ida Taylor Jones. He married Vera Sophie Dobish on June 15, 1957. They had 2 children and 5 grandchildren: Daniel (Karen) Jones Jr., with Kimberley, Kelley, and Katie -- Janet (Dennis) Hansen, with Kelsey and Kaitlyn. He was a loving, supportive and patient father who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was married to Vera for 49 years until her passing in June 2006.
Dan was a veteran, who served in the United States Navy for four years aboard the USS Valley Forge and was honorably discharged in September 1959.
He was employed by UPS as a truck driver for many years and then as a sales driver for Aratex. He was a hard worker and enthusiastic about everything he did in life.
Dan loved fishing, especially saltwater fishing. He spent hours angling in Lemon Bay with his children and friends, and in any other ocean, canal, creek or pond he could find.
He also loved cooking. He had numerous recipes that he had created and loved sharing large pans of these with his friends and family.
He married Sadie Shreve Baker on December 10, 2012, and was thereby adopted into her very large family (of 98 descendants)….. who loved him as one of their own. In between all of their traveling, they made their home in Florida until 2017, then four years in North Carolina, and then recently moved to Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his wife Sadie of Youngsville, Pennsylvania, 11 children, 41 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, 2 sisters-- Evelyn Ionna of Wilkes-Barre and Vera Walkowiak of Punta Gorda, Florida-- and a sister-in-law, Peggy Jones of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters- Sandy & Shirley-- and his twin brother Ernie.
No public calling hours will be observed. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 2-4pm at Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 4880 Mt. Pleasant Road, Union City, Pennsylvania 16438.
