Obituary of Frances E. Smith
Mrs. Frances E. Smith, 85, of 7 Lafayette Way, Titusville died at 6:34 AM on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at the Golden LivingCenter.
Mrs. Smith was born on October 16, 1925 in Titusville to the late Charles and Florence Waldron McNellie. She married Eugene C. Smith, Sr. on September 12, 1942 at Covington, KY. Mr. Smith preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1979.
She was formerly employed as a waitress at the Titusville Country Club, Cross Creek Resort and Central Avenue Restaurant. She also worked for the former Warner’s Bakery.
Mrs. Smith was a previous member of the Church of Christ where she also taught Sunday school. She belonged to the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, was an avid pinochle and card player. She also enjoyed collecting antiques, working in her flower garden and raised dogs for many years. Mrs. Smith was especially fond of spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Eugene C. Smith, Jr. and Bonnie Pierce of Titusville, Raymond L. Smith of Long Neck, DE; four grandchildren, Marcie Leithead of Titusville, Roberta Booth and husband Jesse, Michelle York and husband Paul of Raleigh, NC, James Smith and wife Amy of Reading; six great grandchildren, Crystal Gilson and husband Vincent of Pleasantville, Joseph Reed and fiancé Jodi Schemberg, Kayleigh Lott and husband Chase, Alyssa Leithead all of Titusville, Stephanie and Isaac York of Raleigh, NC; three great great-grandchildren, Ashton and Bryce Gilson of Pleasantville, Peyton Reed of Titusville; sister-in-law, Eunice Locke of McKeesport; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her son, C. Craig Smith; daughter-in-law, Esther Smith; twin grandsons, Clay and Tray Leithead; three brothers, Charles “Pete” McNellie, William McNellie, Carl McNellie; and a sister, Betty Carlson.
No calling hours will be observed. A private service will be conducted by the immediate family with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.
