Obituary of Irene N. Beers

Mrs. Irene N. Beers, 88, of 619 Superior St. Titusville, died Monday evening, October 31, 2011 at the Titusville Area Hospital.Mrs. Beers was born on June 6, 1923 in Titusville, a daughter of the late John and Rose Westfall Howe. She was married to James W. “Bill” Beers on May 30, 1942 at Pleasantville. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1993. Mrs. Beers was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1942. She had been employed for many years as dietician at the Titusville Presbyterian Home. She was a member of the Titusville First Presbyterian Church and a life member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW Ladies Auxillary. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Beers is survived by two sons, Stephen L. Beers and wife Shirley of Titusville and Rodney J. Beers and wife Barbara of Brockport; two daughters, Sharon Ruot and husband Joseph, Jr. of Mahaffey, PA and Sandra J. Rigby of Titusville; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald “Homer” Howe, John Howe and Blair Howe; and two sisters, Isabelle Brigham and Mary Woodcock. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville today (Wednesday) from 7 to 9 PM and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Members of the VFW Ladies Auxillary will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home today (Wednesday) at 6:45 PM. The funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Mr. Tom Newcombe, acting assistant to the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be made to Benson Memorial Library 213 N. Franklin St. Titusville, PA 16354 or to the charity of one’s choice. FLOWERS
