Obituary of Andrew R. McKee
Mr. Andrew R. McKee, 91, of Titusville died at 9:11 AM on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Golden LivingCenter in Titusville.
Mr. McKee was born on March 9, 1920 in Atlantic, PA to the late Andrew R. and Eva Bernice Foulk McKee. He married Evelyn Lorenz on November 21, 1953 in Titusville.
He was a graduate of Cranberry High School in 1938, Franklin Business School and attended Grove City College.
Mr. McKee was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army. He entered the service on Oct. 30, 1944 at Erie and was honorably discharged on July 26, 1946 at Ft. George G. Meade, MD with the rank of Technician Fifth Grade.
He was formerly employed by Joy Manufacturing, Talon Corp. of Meadville, the Veterans Administration Hospitals in Butler and Erie where he was a nursing assistant at the time of his first retirement in the late 70’s. He went back to work at the Soldiers and Sailors home in Erie where he was also a nursing assistant until the time of his retirement in 1985.
Mr. McKee was a member of the Breedtown Baptist Church.
He enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing and studying the history of the railroads.
Mr. McKee is survived by his wife of Titusville; two children, Sharon McKee of Meadville, Brian McKee of Framingham, MA; one sister, Rebecca Davis and husband Gordon of Oil City; three brothers-in-law, Mac and Fay Lorenz of Titusville, Harley Lorenz of Salt Lake City, UT, Charles Hawkins of Latrobe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters-in-law, Sarah Bly, Eleanor Hawkins and Jean Cosper.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service from the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Gary Kinnear, officiating.
Interment will be in Rocky Glen Cemetery, Adamsville.
