Obituary of Edgar C. Alderman
Mr. Edgar C. Alderman, 71, of 41053 Park Ave. Titusville (Hydetown), died Monday afternoon June 7, 2010 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca following a brief battle with cancer.
Ed was born on September 19, 1938 in Titusville, a son of the late Edgar N. and Elsie Greer Alderman. He was married to Judy Emerson on June 11, 1960 at the First Presbyterian Church in Titusville.
Ed was a graduate of the Titusville High School, class of 1956. The following year after graduation he entered the US Air Force at Pittsburgh and served with the 1094 Air Police Squadron until his honorable discharge on September 15, 1961 at Manzano Base, Albuquerque, NM.
Ed had been employed as a foreman in the cold mill at Cytemp Specialty Steel Corp. in Titusville from 1966 until his retirement in August of 1993. Following retirement, he worked for Northwest Busing as a driver and trainer. Prior to his employment with Cytemp, he also worked at several banks and Dad’s Dog Food in Meadville.
Ed was a member of the Titusville First Presbyterian Church; the American Legion Post No. 0994 in Townville; served on the Oil Country Federal Credit Union Board of Directors; and was currently treasurer of the Cyclops Quarter Century Club.
Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He was a coach for junior bowlers for many years. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed planting his garden and sending his signature hot sauce to his friends around the country.
Ed is survived by his wife of Hydetown; two children, Eric Alderman and wife Joleene of Canadohta Lake and Julie Johnson and husband Randy of St. Mary’s; two grandchildren, Courtney and Zachary; a sister, Bertha Knowles and husband Duane of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Rumbaugh and Myrtle Mae McCann.
No public calling hours will be observed.
Friends may attend a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Saturday June 19, 2010 at the Titusville First Presbyterian Church with Mrs. Jacqueline Wagner, senior assistant to the pastor of the church, officiating.
Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Centerville.
The family asks that memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church 216 N. Franklin St. Titusville, PA 16354 or to any local Humane Society.
