Obituary of Harvey C. Toy

Mr. Harvey C. Toy, Sr., 89, of 22880 Harvey Rd. Titusville, died Sunday, December 25, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Oil City.Mr. Toy was born on May 20, 1922 at Punxsutawney, PA, a son of the late Harvey and Dee O’Donald Toy. He was married to Ann E. Fabian on May 17, 1947 at Girard, OH. She preceded him in death on April 14, 1996. Mr. Toy was a graduate of Warren Harding High School in Warren, Ohio, class of 1947. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army. He entered the service on Nov. 12, 1942 at New Cumberland, PA and was honorably discharged on Nov. 15, 1945 at Ft. Jackson, SC with the rank of corporal. Mr. Toy had been employed as a die setter for Van Huffel Tube Co. in Warren, Ohio for 30 years until his retirement in 1983. Mr. Toy was a member of St. Titus Church and of the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by a son, James L. Toy and his wife Karen of Pleasantville; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Harvey C. Toy, Jr.; a brother, Don Toy; and two sisters, Ellen Knapp and Betty Ackerman. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A vigil service will be recited on Wednesday at 1:45 pm at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Titus Church with Fr. Walter Packard as celebrant. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Cranberry Twp., Venango County, with full military rites. The family asks that memorials be made to the Disabled American Veterans. FLOWERS
